Mary Hurlburt has completed a first draft of best practice in preventing post-operative clotting complications on our patients in Ecuador.
She has reviewed the scientific literature and has described the opportunities and the barriers related to the prevention of deep venous thrombosis in the legs after hip operations.
The document is now being reviewed by the other family doctors and later it will be referred to the surgeon's for their input.
The outcome from her work will be a protocol for the management of adult hip patients after their surgery.
