Here's the story of Julia Ambata. She is a delightful lady. Look at the smile she's created on the faces of all. And she's the one going in for surgery!
L to R: Jaime McInnis, daughter Miluska, Saifee Rashiq, Trina LeBlanc
Saifee is so happy that the spinal is successful on the first attempt! It's a thumb's up. This is Saifee's attitude on life.
As the Saifee does the spinal, Heather Perl, Cori Kalven and Patricia Thorneloe prepare the surgical equipment.
Surgeon's Paul Moreau and Ron Henderson are long time CAMTA participants.
The surgical team include scrub nurse Patricia Thorneloe. She knows her instruments cold.
Meanwhile Julia rests under mild sedation as Anesthesiologist Dr. Saifee Rashiq monitors her fluid requirements and cardiovascular parameters
This is my "Karsh" moment of Paul Moreau. He put on a silly Russian surgical hat. Well worth a picture. But it makes me wonder if Russians surgeons are bakers??
Here is Cori Kalven RN, assisting the adult surgeons.
There is so much osteoarthritis in Ecuador. Here is Julia's hip. Note how thin the line is between the round hip bone and the socket. The cartilage is gone! That means pain, inflammation and loss of function.
Thanks.
John
