Second Week for CAMTA - PREOP Clinic

Team Two after a day of rest were at the clinic on Sunday morning.
Here's the scene as they arrived outside the Tierra Nueva.

There were lots of patients waiting when the team arrived. Most of the patients today are rechecks but we still needed to find three more adult hip patients and a few more pediatric cases to fill in week two for the two theatres -- one for adults and one for peds.

Meanwhile at the other end of the Tierra Nueva hospital Aline Young is sorting the blankets and toys for the children. Do those blankets look familiar? We bought them on sale at Ikea.

Here, Jorge, a volunteer translator for the morning interviews a returning patient.

Drs. Ron Henderson and Carlo Panaro examine a patient. Fercho is a local Quiteno and he offered to translate today when I ran into him at a modern dance performance yesterday. He had translated last week but kindly consented to return today. I met his wife and three wonderful children at that concert.

Here's a man with a face full of character. We did his hip last year and he's fine and doesn't need a second operation for the other hip.
Here's more patients waiting. Memorize these faces! They'll show up in the week!
Very very sad! This little girl is horizontal on a bench. She is a spastic quadriplegic and often these kids are brought to the clinic. But there is little we can do for them.

Here Dr. Paul Moreau hugs one of last year's patients. She doesn't need her second hip done. That's her sister with her.

It's back to surgery tomorrow!
Thanks, John and Boris
