Sheila Ortega

Remember four-year old Sheila Ortega? Her mother Patricia brought her in on Clinic Day for a consultation. (see blog post Clinic Day, Week Two, February 27)

Shelia went into the OR on Tuesday morning for two procedures, one to shorten her left femur and one on her hip (otherwise known as a Pemberton Osteotomy), which meant that she was in the OR for about six hours that day.

Needless to say, the day after surgery, Sheila was in no mood for visitors (aside from her mother), but a day later she was all smiles, and consented to a photograph. Her only stipulation?  That she be photographed “con libro” (with her book).

Here she is with her mother and Pediatric Ward Nurse Sarah Southon on Thursday. Sheila went home the next day.
